Our Rita style is the perfect 1940s, vintage-inspired gown with modern evolution. We have improved upon this essential and eternally flattering wardrobe staple for figure-worship and ease of wear. A divine, easily washable, high-quality, stretch silk is double layered in the bodice for built-in bust support. This element was at the forefront of our design choices when creating Rita. We wanted a boudoir gown that women could feel their absolute best in, without the necessity of wearing a bra, as well as the practical ability of machine-washable fabric. When dressing into Rita, using the ‘swoop and scoop’ motion of putting on a bra will place the bust into the bodice’s unique, built-in gathered sling shape. This inner construction provides lift and support that is both comfortable and flattering. This functional bodice is then beautifully trimmed with a heavenly French leaver’s lace that caresses the skin. The Rita Gown has a floating and full floor-length skirt that echoes the graceful movement of it’s screen siren namesake. Be your own ‘Love Goddess’ in our Rita gown!
Notes on the fit of the Rita Gown:
The bodice of this gown is stretchy and supportive. Because of it’s body hugging properties it is snug to get over the shoulders. Resist the temptation to pull the garment down by the skirt, as it will tear the delicate silk chiffon. One of the main features of this garment is the built-in sling to support the bust. When putting the gown on, lift the breast tissue up, so that it sits above the sling in the cup.
Italian Stretch Wovens
The Rita gown collection features fabric sourced from a family-run company just outside Como, Italy. After over a century weaving top of the line textiles, the company has its own twisting factory that specially manufactures the synthetic threads for fine fabrics made specifically for lingerie. These Italian textiles used by CÉLESTE are made from eco-friendly, biodegradable resources and dyed responsibly. Without compromising quality, our mills have evolved their process to reflect the most innovative techniques and materials while maintaining the supple hand of these luxurious and practical fabrics. Lace is as important to CÉLESTE as it is to where it is sourced—the lacemaking region of France. The history of french lace is more dramatic than one might imagine. Despite wars with the English, the fine lace-makers of Calais, France smuggled looms into the country to ensure generations of hand-made lace remained part of the region’s rich history. This is where CÉLESTE’S stretch lace trim is made by master lace-makers on century-old Leaver looms. While each garment adorned with this exquisite lace contains a little part of history, it also demonstrates the demands of a more modern luxury lingerie market. By using fine fibers that are able to depict the most intricate lace pattern details and with stretch recovery to help your CÉLESTE gown maintain it’s shape over time. Read more about lace here.
